About me
Hello I’m Jo Rooks – an artist, author, and illustrator with a lifelong love of creativity in all its forms.
I began my career in the music industry as a graphic designer, where I had the exciting opportunity to design album artwork for a range of leading artists. It was a dynamic and inspiring environment that gave me valuable experience in design, photography, and logo creation—skills that still shape my visual storytelling today.

My creative journey eventually led me to children’s publishing, where I discovered another passion: creating picture books that help young readers explore emotions, empathy, and the world around them. I’m proud to be the author-illustrator of six published titles, including ‘Box Of Butterflies’ which had recognition for its focus on emotional intelligence and wellbeing for children. All of my books have also been translated into multiple languages, reaching children and families around the world.

Outside of book-making, I’m deeply inspired by the power of art as a tool for self-expression and connection. I run creative workshops for both children and adults, and recently had the joy of leading an Art & Yoga retreat in the beautiful Spanish countryside—an experience that combined mindfulness, movement, and creative exploration.

Whether I’m in the studio, running a workshop, or sketching ideas for a new story, I’m always driven by a desire to inspire, uplift, and spark curiosity through art.
